What We Offer

We ensure your dog is thoroughly fulfilled mentally and physically by the end of each session via enrichment on the walk and of course, lots of exercise!

Our one-to-one training services are amazing for those pups who need a helping hand with making the right choices either on a walk or at home.

We also offer walk and train services where your dog will have a one-on-one session with the trainer to tackle less serious problems such as improving recall or loose lead walking. Walk and trains are also a great way to stay on top of the training advice a one to one session offers if you are busy or think your dog could benefit from not only a walk but also getting the correct handling and training as well.

Why is it important to train and walk your dog?

It is incredibly important to not only walk your dog but train them too, it’s vital you are doing both of these things in order for your dog to be physically and mentally happy and fulfilled, they work together as the better your dog is trained the easier and more relaxing it is to take your dog places not only for your furry friend but also for you!

Your dog doesn’t need to be the best trained dog the world has ever seen but it is important your dog has a good understanding of basic commands and behaviors such as recall, loose lead walking, stay etc. if your looking to train more than the basics this is also something we can help with.

Regularly training with your dog also builds an amazing relationship between dog and owner allowing trust to be formed, your dog will then look to you for guidance and direction when they are unsure of something or situation which in turn leads to better and more enjoyable walks for the both of you.

We are firm believers that all dogs deserve and need more than a walk around the block twice a day or an hour-long game of fetch on the field, we believe we should make it a priority to give our dogs the opportunity to explore the world and all it has to offer just as we do and good training is what makes that possible.

We also understand that people lead busy lives, and this is where we can help fulfil your dog’s need to explore the world.

Why choose Parkers Packs

We are dedicated to giving dogs the leadership and guidance they crave in order for them to
make good choices while using fun and engaging methods to encourage good behavior. Your dog’s happiness while out with us is one of our top priorities and will always be one of the things we put first, we do this by having a good understanding of canine body language and behavior which enables us to read your dog and know if they are enjoying what we are doing in that moment or if they are ready to move on because the situation is no longer benefiting them or the desired outcome of that session.

We also make it a priority that your understanding of
the training being provided is something you are confident about and happy to do yourself as our end goal for training is that you, as the owner, know how to implement the training in yours and your dog’s day to day life as the point of a good trainer is that you won’t need them forever.

Where we walk

We like to walk dogs local to their area either on pavement adding in extra enrichment such as mini obedience sessions, finding a handful of treats scattered in long grass or walking in busier places.

We also walk on public footpaths taking advantage of all the amazing walks through fields and other lovely places near us, these walks are great to burn all of your pup’s energy.

A lot of the time we will incorporate both kinds of walk into one, so your dog gets the best of both worlds.

Depending on what service you require will determine which type of walk we do more as every dog will need something different to reach the owners desired outcome for example if you’re looking to improve your dog’s recall, walking in the fields on a long lead being able to really practice their recall and reinforce it will do your dog a lot better than a pavement walk on a short lead.

Tailored training and walking

We tailor all our services to the dog and there owner depending on the goal of the chosen service, if your goal is for your dog to have a good run and burn off some energy than that is what we will focus on but if your desired outcome is different than the we approach the session will be different as well and unique to you and your dog need.

An example of something that varies from to dog to dog is what they find rewarding or reinforcing, for example not all dogs will find treats rewarding during training and would prefer a toy instead, this is something we would then change and reward the dogs good behaviour and choices with a toy rather than treats in the future.

Tailoring training and walking needs to the dog especially is incredibly important to us as the wrong method or technique in training can harm their overall outlook on training or going for walk in the future, meaning they may no longer find it enjoyable which is of course the opposite of what we want.

My method of dog training

Our approach to dog training is called balanced training, meaning we will tell the dog what they have done right and what they have done wrong.

For example, if you have taught your dog a good recall and you are sure they know that the expectation is to come back to you when you ask, the consequence of not doing that would be for them to be put back on the lead.

This helps the dog learn what they must do to keep doing what they want to and creates a clear picture in their mind of the expectations.

The key to this method is ensuring your dog knows the command before testing it in harder environments, around distractions etc.

If your dog doesn’t have any consequences for not listening to you then there is also no
motivation to listen to you, using either treats or praise can only get you so far in some cases, however, treats and praise are a very crucial part in this method as this is how we teach and reinforce good behaviours which will make it much more likely for the dog to repeat them. 95% of training using a balanced method is positive enforcement based.

We offer 121 training sessions in your home/area if you are in one of the listed places we cover, or in Martham where we are based and this will go more in depth about the methods we use and how to apply them to your individual dog and the challenges you are facing with them as dog training isn’t a one size fits all
